Australia aftermarket tach wire

Hi:
I own a 1999 Hilux manual 2.7liter petrol
trying to find the pulse wire to connect an aftermarket tach.
the coils are bundled.
Can I connect to a wire under the hood/bonnet? That is preferred to dropping the dash.
a picture would be most helpful
regards.

You can always connect it to the IGN test port by the diagnostics port (If the new hiluxs are similar to our trucks at all..).

almost but need to clarify

Hi and thanks for the reply.
However I do not have a clue what an IGN test port is,what it looks like, or where it is.
I realise there are different models but is this a plug with pins? If so, which pin? Is it located under the bonnet and if so near what?
Is the a web page with a photo of it?
All sounds easy when you know how but I don't know how LOL.
Thanks again,
G

On my truck it is located right beside the underhood fuse box. With IGN on the top cap. Just a single female spade connector. You would tap in with a male connector.
