new to fourm and need some help please

I have a 1977 Toyota 2 wheel drive truck. I am having some charging problems. The battery wont charge at all. The truck will run fine but when i turn on the lights it kills the battery. and wont turn over the engine until i charge it with a charger. When i crank it the charge light and the oil light come on. the engine has plenty of oil in it. As I drive the charge light will go off with acerlation . but come back on and off again. So i bought a new(rebuilt alt ) put it on ,no change, bought a new voltage regutor. no change. so i take the alt off have it tested and it passes. It looks like the alternator is good just wont send a charge to the battery. please help me figure this problem out. If any one has any ideas they will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I would test the wiring going from the alt to the batter.

IIRC the oil light is to warn you of low oil pressure, not low oil level, and im pretty sure thats normal for it to come on while cranking, but I could be wrong. I have a oil pressure gauge, not a dummy light.

Check all the wiring between alt and batt, both pos and neg.
Make sure all connections are clean and tight.

What is the voltage at the batt with engine Off, idling, and above idle (say 2K RPM) ?
