sticking gas pedal

hi,
i have a 1992 toyota truck 4x4 extended cab 22r engine. my problem is the gas pedal is hard to press when you first get in truck. once you over come the resistance it is ok. but when it sits awhile it will do it again. real bad in colder weather. i have sprayed lubricant at the point where cable goes into firewall at the pivot points. nothing seems to work for long.
i have looked at the setup under dash and i cannot see why the pedal would stick. has anyone else had this problem? what would be the fix?

thank you

Are you sure the cable is not binding up somewhere where you can't see? Below is a link to an illustration that may help you see how the pedal and cable are suppose to go. Maybe something isn't attached correctly, or you just need a new cable. It wouldn't surprise me if you did.

Sounds to me like there's no lubrication left on your throttle cable. I'm not sure if it's possible, but if you can pull the cable out of the shroud, and pump some grease in there, it'll help your situation.

Clean the carb throats. Its likely there is a nice ridge of carbon on them that causes the throttle plates to catch slightly.
