newest year of what, 22re??

Most differences that can't be directly swapped over are wiring changes.. You can find the 22re in trucks and 4runners till 95

95 was the last year for the 22RE. The bell housing bolt pattern is the same going all the way back to the 20R of the late 70's.

since you have FI you dont have to worry about whether theres a FP opening or not on the engine, so you can use an older engine and be ok

so as long as other parts swap over to it ok

i would read up on google and wikipedia on the histroy of these engines and learn the basics,

would be a good idea

would he have to swap the fuel injection over to the new engine? That might not bolt up to an older 20R right? There should be a swap guide on here! or maybe I just missed it?
