1986 22r Lift and tires a good match?

I have a chance to pick up a 1986 Yota 22r 4x4 5 speed. It has a 4 inch suspension lift, and 3 inch body lift, turnin 35's. Is this a good match? Or will the tranny and motor stress to turn those. Will the drivetrain take a beating? How sluggish will it be?

The key to all your answers is in gearing. If the front and rear diffs have been regeared to a 4.88 or better a 5.29 ratio, you will be able to turn those big tires a lot easier.

Okay. Will it effect top speed on the road. I wont be doing many highway miles. Its going to be my first truck. Is it hard to change gearing? Also, how much is it?

Yes it will affect both on-road and off-road driving.
Regearing to match the larger tires puts the truck back in the correct RPM range it was designed to operate in.
You will regain the power and mpg lost by running huge tires on stock gears.

It's not cheap and it's not a DIY. Figure $800-1000 if you pull both diffs and carry them to the shop.
