Anyone ever gut their cat? I was having some power issues, traced it to a plugged exhaust and it turns out the cat is the culprit. The rest of the exhaust is new behind it.

Anyway, the truck is old enough now that it doesn't have to do emissions anymore so I am not worried about that at all. I just don't want to throw money at a new cat or even a test pipe really... Anyone ever do this on their truck? Any ill effects?

im just looking for a 2.25in exhaust for this little truck to help it with flow and pickup. Id say just gut the fucker man, prolly helps a whole bunch actually

lol I did end up gutting it. I shoulda updated the thread. Runs like a champ again.

still have the stock exhaust and just the gutted cat man?

Yup. Thats about it. Its not a stock muffler though. Its an aftermarket replacement muffler like a quietflow or something. I dunno. It sounds nice though.
