USA 1994 truck Surging Idle (Please help)

I have a 1994 Toyota truck and I am not sure if it is a Hilux or T-100. Here is the VIN 4tarn81a3rz1731714
195,000 miles
22RE

Any way here is the issue I am having. I have have the truck for 6 or 7 years and have had to do nothing to it other than change the oil, spark plugs (and the air filter the other day). About three or four months ago the idle started surging but only every once in a while. It has started doing this a lot more lately and I am really getting worried about it now. I use this truck every day and travel out of town with it all the time. I live in SC and I am in VA right now.

I have been told to check the vacuum line and I spayed ether around the and it had no effect so I assume they are okay. Someone said it may be the EGR (but is there a way to know?), another said TPS (?throttle position sensor?), again is there a way to know, or do ya just start spending money blindly?

Anyone have suggestions? Please do make them! I am open to try. Thanks!!

Search dude.

There are tons of threads on the following idle surge topics:.

How to clean the air idle control.

Check O2 sensor for bad sensor or exposure to outside air.

Check EGR valve to see if its stuck open

Start by checking the ECM for error codes.
On a 94 you can do it by counting flashes of the CEL.
Specific instructions are in a thread "stickied" at the top of either the pre-88 or the 89-95 sub-forums (can't remember which)

It's a Hilux/ Truck since you have the 22RE.

What's the condition of the truck? When's the last time the Timing chain was done? just things to look out for.
