SEARCH is my friend. I did a search for "automatic door lock" in the entire forum, and post #3 at
Change automatic door locks function was what I needed! The manual doesn't say
anything about the chimes, but that is the key (no pun intended)! Where the manual reads:
"press and hold the driver's door lock switch ([1] or [2]) for approximately five seconds and release"
should instead read:
"
as soon as you hear the chimes, press and hold the driver's door lock switch ([1] or [2]) for approximately five seconds and release.
The seconds will have expired, and the switch should be released prior to the silencing of the chimes".
I can't recall if I was waiting for the chimes prior to pressing the switch, but I know for a fact that I was holding the switch well beyond the end of the chimes because I wanted to make sure the command took.
I was so happy that when I told my wife I finally got it, she told me to do her 05 Avalon. Got that on the first go round.
