Go for it man. I got my X-Ice tires from TireRack for like $650 including shipping and duties. That's about 50% cost as compared to all the other local quotes I got.
I got the OEM size 215/55/17 so I can just swap the tires on my existing wheels. I didn't want to spend $65 additionally per wheel on steel.
It's interesting to note that right now, TireRack no longer offers the X-Ice in my size. I guess they ran out? The general choice of winter tires for this size is much lower as compared to late October when I was last browsing.
Well...the tire companies do make "batches" only so it's possible for a retailer to run out of a size and/or model. All-seasons on the other hand are probably manufactured 24/7.
