I find it odd though because werent many of the Lexus branded cars actually Toyotas that were rebadged and sent here. Technically they were Toyotas and the same body style for the most part. like the Harrier/RX, the the LS/Celsior I think it is. I am not sure about all the names and such since I dont keep up with the japanese models very much but those two seem to stick out to me.

^ true but i think only 2 models are on sale..the sc and i think the gs? dont remember, but its dumb to sell the entire lineup when they can buy a toyota which the lex is based on for less
i was actually asking since i was always under the impression that they did not need lexus there. the only reason why they created the lexus name was there was a market for luxury vehicles in north america among other parts. this is what i tell my friends...but then i see the japanese site...http://lexus.jp/
i think was it 04 or 05 they offically launched lexus world wide.. so all older toyota vehicles that were lexus badged in the US offically became the lexus names.

yea, but they want to compete with bmw and benz...toyota wants to flex their muscle

true for a couple of years ago, but not currently! Lexus is now for sale in jpn!
they arent "rebading" Toyotas and sending them as Lexus...
the Toyota Aristo's a Lexus GS that's rebadged as a Toyota..
but NOW, there'll be no more Aristo, Celsior, Harrier, Land Cruiser Prado, Windom, Soarer, or Altezza, once the models are due for a redesign, they'll be badged as Lexus (save the current Soarer, which is badged as an SC430), so the new "Lexuses" are infact NOT Toyotas, but exclusively Lexus..

Actually, the Lexus GX and LX are rebadged Toyotas. Toyota took the LandCruiser back in 95 and put a Lexus emblem on it. The Prado has been around way longer than the GX.

Nothing wrong with the Lexus' that were imported Toyotas. If Lexus can get high praise, high quality, and become the best selling luxury brand with them, then they must be good. I love the ES330.

Simply put, the new Lexus models are now only being offered as a Lexus brand car. Toyota won't have the cars in their lineups anymore. So the new GS, IS, and most likely the LS will become a Lexus brand car only.
