Apparently there is a cheat code to disable the traction code on Lexus IS's. The cheat code was leaked by a production tech during a diagnostics testing session.
Start car with the hand brake up
Foot brake twice
Hold foot brake down
Then hand brake twice
repeat till you get it right. Eventually the dash light for the traction control will come on even though you are not moving. This temporarily disables the system until the car is turned off.
kinda sounds like a nintendo code.....you remember...up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-b-a
pull the handbrake then release it, then repeat?
yes the nintendo codes...b-a-b-a-up-down-b-a-left-right-b-a-start...ninja turtles...u get to pick what ever level u want...the b and a can also be interchanged and u get the same result...
You mean normally the traction control can't fully be shut off on the IS300? Wouldn't that be a problem if you need to "rock" the vehicle out of snow/sand/mud (as if it would be stuck in mud)? I thought all vehicles equipped with TCS had an on/off switch...

Haha... yep you beat me to it... no codes needed.... just push the Trac Off button lol... It would be funny to see somebody try the "code" though haha...
Just for another side of the coin.
I don't know anything about the IS having a full out override , maybe it just shuts off trac but leaves teh stability control which is a possibility.
Also Benz has a similar setup even though they have a "OFF" button , that shuts all assits sytems down .
ABS
trac
and stability.
It is called dyno mode and is entered by pressing a sequence of buttons on the steeringwheel controls.
Like this
****Warning - turning this off will disable ESP AND ABS**** Have Fun
How do I disabling Traction Control completely or put the car in Dyno mode?
To start, the key must be removed from the ignition.
Insert the key and turn to position 1.
Immediately press and hold the trip odometer reset button until the instrument cluster beeps. There is no visual message, only an audio beep. Be patient, this takes around 40 seconds.
Press the lower menu button (it looks like two sheets of paper, the one with the writing in the background behind the blank one)
Press the up arrow button.
Press the "+" sign to disable the Traction System (turn "ON" test mode)
Start the engine, the traction system is now disabled.
To return to normal, remove the key and restart the engine. The traction control warning should no longer be in the cluster. If it is, shut the engine off and remove the key again. Then insert the key and turn to position 1. Note that the DYNO test screen is displayed immediately. Push the "-" button to enable the traction system (turn "OFF" test mode)
Note : When you first turn the key to position 1, ESP DYNO Test screen pops up, then after 1-2 seconds it may disappear while faults are displayed. If you weren't fast enough in pressing the "-" button before codes were displayed, just wait until all codes cycle by, then the ESP DYNO Test screen will reappear
i dunno if it is completely turn off when "off"...last time i had it turned off was at the Lexus Performance Driving Clinic...was playing with the car on the skid pad and it did spun out
