Known problems

I am looking at getting a big body car. I have looked at Mercedes S class, but they seem to have too many problems. I like to work on my own cars, but the problems I read with those models seem to be just too damn much.

I am leaning towards LS400, or LS430 and wonder what you guys think about them? Are they fairly easy to work on? Do they use timing chain or belt? Any known problems with these models? How about gas mileage? Safety rating? Thanks!

sorry about the lack of communication and participation but if you didnt know this already, Lexus LS430 is the most reliable car (known) and it has been for years. I would say that it uses a belt but im only 70%sure. I've seen the engine a couple of times and it seems fairly easy to work on. Just my .02 and i hope it helped a little.
