Question SC400 --> 2JZGTE

Well, I'm planning on getting a new car soon and I'm really liking the SC series. I've looked around the boards and I've seen that the 2JZGTE drops into a SC300 fairly decently, but I was wondering about it's counterpart the SC400. How hard would should I expect this swap to be? I've looked at http://www.powerhouseracing.com and saw that the swap into a SC300 was about $15,000, should I expect the same for the SC400?

Also is there is difference in the SC400 and the SC300 other then the engine?

Actualy expect to pay more then 15$ for the swap since the Sc400 has a 4L v8 and the 2jzgte is a 3L 6 inline and the motor mounts and tranny would not bolt up.It wil require alot more work then a sc300 would and i would not sugest it unless you can get a sc400 for 6000$ cheaper then the sc300 5spd.

Alright thank - I'll try to look around for a SC300, but those things are so damn hard to find around here. I've only been able to find 3 so far, yet I can find 6-7 SC400's

Try and find one but if you cant the sc400 could be a good platforme for a turbo setup and since its a good old V8 there are many mecanics that can get some crazy power out of that engine too.

But if you do go with the 400 and want a turbi, it'll have to be a custom job. A couple guys on Ckub Kexus have been trying to do a TT and single turbo job. I too am planning to buy a SC400 and a LS400(for the wife). Good luck.

If you cant get an SC300, why dont you get a supercharger kit for an SC400?? http://www.toyotaimportsforum.co.uk/...ead.php?t=3806

The differences are many, erm, generally brakes, suspension and interior trim, Im merely talking the import us UK people get, havent got an idea about the US market cars. As far as I know the chassis, body etc is the same just the way it built is different

doesnt the sc300 come with a 2jz? why not just turbo that rather than doing a swap?

No, the SC300 has the 1JZ engine, the Supra has the 2JZ. The 1JZ is essentially the same but its 2500cc capacity as opposed to the 3000cc of the 2JZ

Everywhere except Canada and the US, your statement is correct. The SC300 in Japan/England/Australia is known as the Toyota Soarer 2.5GTT and comes with a 2.5L Twin Turbocharged I6, the 1JZ-GTE.

In the U.S. and Canada however, the SC300 comes with the same 3.0L I6 N/A 2JZ-GE motor found in the 94+ Toyota Supra N/A.

For the original question, yes you can add an NA-T kit to the SC300, usually cost for this is around $4000-$5000 for a stage I turbo kit.

The swap however may be more cost effective, especially if you do the 1JZ swap and then add a single turbo conversion kit to make BIG power. A 2JZ-GTE swap with a single turbo conversion kit will make even bigger power.
