fogs don't turn on without heads on????

hey do any of you lexus owners find it annoying that you can't turn on the fogs without the headlights? i own a 01 ES300 and just put piaa ion on the fog so i thought it would be cool to drive w/ fogs only, but i can't turn it on w/o turning on the heads. does anyone kno how to change this? i kno this isn't a problem, but just trying to keep the forum alive!

I think you can probably bypass the relay and have them on all the time. What I would do is find that relay by looking either in the manuel or by folowing the wires and make it connect to another curent source that is on when the ignition is switched on.keep me informed ..

The reason they are wired like that is because it is "the law" in almost every state. If you want to give any cop that sees you a reason to pull you over... run with only the fog lights or have the fog lights on with your high beams.

I like the look with the fog light is on with the low beam even it didn't make any differents. So my fog light switch is always on.

I only find annoying when there is no fog light indicatior light in the instrument cluster for the SC, GX. But there is one in the LS.

welcome over yenliang can't wait to see you at a meet
and don as most people here are from canada
( if not just Toronto)
the states laws don't apply much here
drl daytime running lights mean an light source has to be on all the time at the front of the car it is up to the manufactuer to decide if the want to do a low volt low ,high , fog ,marker or aux
bulb to be on
look at a dodge carvan i think 96 -200 they have the corner bulbs on instead of the headlights(which are orange)
in canada drl started in 91 as law much before the states did it
as long as the car keeps a light on in the front whenever the key is turned forward there is no problem
and i don't think a cop is going to pull someone over for a front light being on if it isn't a headlight as long as a pair are on
most german tuv spec cars for sale in europe are going to be able to turn the fogs on instead
like the german spec 5 series it has a whole different light switch from north american ones
it has fog position which turns off the drls
and a left or right only parking lights turned on
as they double park alot( plus different sizded cars which can get side swiped real easy
just like jdm civics and lots of others have mirrors that fold in as a factory option as there streets are so small that much more space is needed to get by

later

i personnaly love the look of fog and markers only one
but not as much as i love the m5 front at night

and have miserable fogggy weather at times
