engine running but lock the doors

Is there any way I can lock my IS250 with the engine running? I travel with my dog and would like to leave him in the car with the AC on, but would like to lock the door from the outside for obvious reasons if we go into eat or shop or something.
Thanks

for one...what happens if somebody smashes your window...then can drive off with the car b/c the keys are in it....two...why travel with the dog...leave it at home if you can not be with it all the time....

Get an aftermarket alarm that has remote start. It keeps the car idling for 5-10 minute intervals. For example on a Viper 791XV the remote has a half mile range, but probably less if there are buildings and parking garages. Still though, I doubt you will be further away than that. The pager tells you if the engine is on or not. Since it keeps the car on for a predefined time you will have to keep hitting the button every 5-10mins. With this system. The doors are locked, no key is in the car and if anyone breaks in and tries to drive away the engine shuts off. If the brake is pressed the engine will cut out(necessary step to shift out of park). You will also be paged so you can haul it back to the car to check out whats up.

However your car is the IS250. It has that new bluetooth key thing so I'm not sure how well the alarm will work with your car. Best bet is to goto a certified alarm seller/installer.

Good luck!
