RX350 - Oil/Filter Change Instructions - Doc Enclosed

Those of you who have recently purchased a new RX350 and plan on using the dealers "free oil/filter change coupons" that may have come with your purchase need to be aware of something.

I'm an '06 Avalon owner and am posting this here because our vehicle's share the same motor - both are made by Toyota.

The coupons read "up to 5 qts." - unfortunately your car holds 6.4 qts. of oil; not 5 qts.

I've searched the WEB and have learned that many Toyota dealers are only installing 5 qts. in the '06 Avalon motor. I'd bet a buck the Lexus dealers are doing the same thing. I've been on this earth a few yrs. and have learned that there's liitle difference in car dealerships, be they Luxury or not.

All the more reason to change your own oil. Here's the URL with the instructions:

Regards,

Mike Murrell

Good info, the dealers will in fact only put 5 quarts in. If they put more in to fill it to spec, they will charge you.

And I would have no problem with that if the extra charge was not exhorbitant, but I'd bet it would be.

I find it scary that dealerships are leaving motors 1.4 qts. low on oil, but I'm not at all surprised by this.

Their ethics are sub-zero.
