Transmission Dipstick

Hello Friends,

I have a 93 Lexus ES300, I removed the automatic transmission Dipstick to check the fluid level. But now the dipstick won't go back in all the way. Aroung 3" from the bottom, it gets stuck I tried forcing it in but doing this is bending the end of the dipstick. Can somebody provide some solution.

Also I wanted to know if Dextron II and Dextron III are compatible for this transmission.

Thanks

Try pulling out the dipstick, rotating it a quarter turn and reinstalling it. Sometimes they get stuck. Remember the dipstick is a thin ribbon and can only bend in one plane. The dipstick should go in without forcing it.

The stick should have the trans oil type stamped on it. Check the complete stick, even at the bottom where the oil marks are. It should be either Dextron or Type T-IV. Don’t mix the two or put in the wrong one, this will damage the transmission. If it uses Dextron,Type III can be used for Type II
