IS 250/350 tire wear

Looking at the specifications for the 250, I see the following footnote next to the 18" wheels.
"Tires fitted with 17- or 18-in wheels are expected to experience greater tire wear than conventional tires. Tire life may be substantially less than 20,000 miles (17-in) or 15,000 miles (18-in), depending on driving conditions."

Is that right that I shouldn't expect more than 20K miles from the stock tires? Are the stock tires really only expected to last as little as 15K?

I guess my other question is whether after the first set of tires is replaced, can they be replaced with something that lasts maybe closer to 30K?

It's all relative depending on how you drive and the condition of the roads. If you don't burn rubber and drive on smooth roads they will last longer. And yes you can replace them with something that lasts longer, but try to keep dry and wet weather traction, noise, etc the same when you do so.

From what i have seen, i work at a lexus dealership... by the way.... you get 15k if you re lucky...

if you realy want 30k miles out of your tires then you are going to have to get an alignment that puts the camber of the tires a little bit straighter then stock... but this also means that you will be sacraficing some of the performance of the car as well.
