Question on differences: 1uz and 3uz

Just had a simple question. I'm actually away on business but when I get back I was looking into buying a sc400. I've got it lined up, but, it already has 170k miles on it. I was figuring that sooner or later I'm going to have to do a rebuild or a swap (don't worry, I already have taken it into account as part of the purchase of the vehicle) and so the question comes in, what are the actual differences between the 1uz and the 3uz. If I'm going to actually have to do a swap would the 3uz be a option at all? (I know it COULD go in) but would it be advantageous in any fashion, are there any benefits, or would I be better off sticking with the 1uz. I guess I was thinking about this because I see that Toyota is using the 3uz in motorsports and being of the same family, was thinking that it might be something different to swap in instead of the 2jz-gte or 1jz.

I would personally like to stick with the v8 whether its just a rebuild or not. Thanks for any input. I've tried the search option already but I couldn't get it to actually work. Don't know why, so I'm hoping to not get many flames!
