ES350 Nav/ Touch screen Question (2007)

Hello All

I have a 2007 ES350 and am wondering if there is anyway to reprogram/ override the "safety" feature that turns off the (applicable) touch screen controls when you travel over 5mph?. It can be a bit annoying when you are trying to have your passenger trying to dial the phone or activate the touch screen Nav directions while on a road trip.

Even more annoying trying to access your phone's voice-mail commands while using the hands-free.

I would never use the controls myself while driving (thats what I tell the "disclaimer" screen everytime I start the car)

PS.. I also heard that there was a way to override the DVD player to play while driving...Again...Just a crazy thought...never would do it...never....

Not sure if this will work on your 350, but this does work on a 2004 330. The following process must be done each time the car is turned on - it is lost when the car is turned off.

Press the Menu button
Press the Volume button
press the upper left of the screen (there's nothing there, ie no button)
press the lower left of the screen (again there's nothing there)
press the upper left of the screen again
press the lower left of th escreen again

A hidden menu now appears
Press and hold the Overdire button until you hear a beep

Back out by pressing the appropiate buttons

Now, at least in an '04 ES330, all funtions are avaliable while the car is in motion.

newsrv is right about the overide in the ES330 but unfortunately that option was removed in the 6.1 version of the Nav that started coming out in the Gen5 Nav in 2007 (8.1 is the current).

josh_carter, I assume you have the DVD-changer option that comes with the Mark Levinson (part of the Ultra Luxury package). In my car, I can play DVDs only when I'm stopped and the parking brake is engaged. What people have done is to short circuit the speed sensor wire coming into the Nav system and that seems to have worked for them.
