07 ES350 Trunk switch setting

have a 07 ES350

I would like to be able to open the trunk from the outside (pushing the little button next to license plate) without having the key in my pocket (while the doors are unlocked - of course).

Here is scenario: The car is parked in the garage. Key is sitting in the cup holder (yes, all doors are unlocked). My kids/ I would like to walk up and open the trunk to load hockey bags. etc.. without having to open the driver door and push trunk release button.

Is there a way to change the trunk latch system to allow exterior trunk button to open with the doors unlocked?

Thanks in advance

J

I have the same issue. I But it looks like there's no solution to this. This may actually be a safety design. Perhaps the engineers were thinking you'd sit in traffic motionless with your doors unlock and they want to avoid the situation where anyone on the outside can walk by and open your trunk.

But if you found out otherwise, please inform us here too - thanks.
