IS300 oem suspension clunking noise??

Ok heres the deal. Slow speeds over speed hump i can hear an occassional clunk noise. My 2004 IS300 has stock suspension. I have taken to the dealer 3 times in the last year and they have replaced all the suspension components and still the same thing. Now they tell me they tested various other 2004 IS300 and they all have it..... i'm not quite sure if I should believe them. Anybody else hear this on a stock IS at slow speeds?

def. sounds like your mounts and/or sway bar links.

How many miles? If it's a lot, could be a wheel bearing also...

My guess is the strut mounts or the sway/roll bar ends (take it to a local shop and have them use teflon tape on it). GL

Thanks for the feedback everybody. ya, they did replace the mounts 2 times. So, i'm certain its not that. I have 30k miles now, but that was happening way before. You all may be right about the sway bar links. I'll look into that and get some teflon...thanks!!

what kind of "clunk" is it?

alot of is300's have brake noise because of the floating caliper setup, mine included. i sometimes hear it when i'm going really slow and apply the brakes in situations like going over a speed bump or getting ready to make a turn.

if its something else, here's info from is300.net on other common noises

The other thing to remember - is you always notice noises while going at slow speeds more... I had times in my old camry when I thought something was going wrong with the suspension or engine, and I would realize I was driving on ridged concrete, or over numerous creases in the road

That is not to say you should never investigate problems - but if everything has been replaced, and there is on safety issue, I would just crank up the tunes a bit when going over speed bumps Did you ever end up checking out the endlinks? I know sway bars have a tendancy to be noisy if they are not lubed up around their bushings too... as people have already said

If it's a squashing noise, it has to do with the sway bar bushings or the grease in them.

If it's a single clunk, it could be the sway bar hitting something when your suspension compresses (check the bar and area above for marks)

If you have SS lines, make sure that they are clamped down properly. Loose one's will clunk as you turn the wheel.

if not any of those, there's an all purpose suspension noise thread on www.my.is. look for it
