SC will probably be redesigned for 2009 and will garnish an SC460 tag with the updated 4.6L V8 engine in the current LS460. There have been rumors of an SC500 that will house a 5L V8, but this is unlikely.

I believe the LS600hL is due out later this year.

Seems like the SC will not be needed if the IS will have a coupe and convertible.

I know for a fact the SC will be back with a redesign, the only slight speculation is the engine but it's 99% probable that it will be an SC460. Lexus will not forego the SC series, and there is no word so far on an official IS coupe or IS convertible, and likely won't be for a while.

Do you think they will cease production for a few years?

I see 3 options.

1. Discontinue (Probable if the IS will get a coupe and {hopefully} hardtop)
2. Take a few years off with a redesign. (Most probable, but Hope not cuz I do not like L Finnese)
3. Continue makeing it untill the redesign is done. I would say at least 3 years since there are not publicised replacement versions. (Least probable since
after 2 years of the SC being the only non L Fin version, it would not fit in the lineup anymore.)

Production will not cease, my guess is your option #3, but the redesign will come for the 2009 Model Year as the SC460, we should start to see some pictures of it later this summer.
