'98 ES 300 o2 sensor

Hi I have a 1998 ES300 which has the check engine light on. I ran the code and it tells me that I need to replace the o2 sensor. Being in NY I purchased the o2 sensor not for California cars. jWhen I tried to plug it in the the plug did not fit. I brought it back and the parts guy told me I must have a California car. The new sensor is twice as much. Also ther are two sensors. one before the cat and one after. All total the two ate about $460.00

This sounds a bit extreme. Also, If anyone knows how do you unplug the rear o2 sensor? Does it disconnect through the arm rest? Any help would be greatly ap-preciated.

Thanks in advance.

John

John, If you still need help on this, let me know. I've already replaced both O2 sensors on our 97 ES300 and can give you some suggestions.

O2 Sensor 460

Go to Toyota Parts Dept. instead and buy your o2 Sensor, you'll be fine. They cost is considerably lower. Also, I will be parting out my car soon, I'm going to post in the classified section and if I can part out my car, I will. You can PM me. I have a2001 though, I don't know if they're the same, you'd have to find out.
