"Bring it," said our contact at Hyundai. "We know we have a great price/value story in the Veracruz, but forget that. We want to take on the Lexus, straight up." Okay, pal. You got it.
It looks as Hyundai may not have taken the crown, but still has a very impressive vehicle. Too bad it's still a Hyundai! Hyundai Veracruz vs. Lexus RX350
I say wait for the next gen RX and then do a comparo, the current RX body style is 4 years old so there was def time for Hyundai to prep something worthy. But the interior of the Veracruz looks like it was inspired by vomit
I still don't think that Hyundai can compare to any Luxury Manufacturer. I mean really. Sonata to a BMW? Santa Fe to a Land Rover, and the worst part, Azera to a LS 460? COME ON! Now this BS? Veracruz to a RX 350? Hyundai, you haven't gotten the balls to compete with us. You still aren't even offering navigation systems, or even decent power that the big boys offer. Try again next time

Agree...
To top it off, Hyundai's have had very low resale values, where as Toyota/Lexus are the best. Initial quality may be ok but how well it holds up through the years and how much $$$ youll get when its trade in time is what matters. Lexus really is light years ahead of everybody when it comes to building cars. For example the RX 350s 3.5 V6 makes more hp than Hyundai's 3.8 V6 (Ya I know it said premium gas, but if you can afford one of these, you can afford premium) Come on.
On a side note, I was laughing my balls off when I saw the new Saturn commercial taking shots at the Camry and Accord. Are you shitting me? Then it said "Rethink American" When I think of Saturn I think of crappy plastic cars that fall apart. Yea thats a winner

And the thing is, they brag so much about their little
Warranty, they know that they are going to need that to be in place when they start seeing so many of them in the service departments. See, they want their customers to also think that they are covered, when they really are not. If you offer a long warranty like that, then you are basically telling your customers "Hey. Your car is going to break down so many times, we are going to just keep on fixing it for 10 years so you won't get mad, and go to someone else." If you have a lower warranty, you are basically telling your customers, "Hey, what the hell do you need a long ass warranty for, when you have the longest lasting vehicle on teh road??"
I would like to see how this vehicles will hold up in 10 or 15 years.
I wrote in another post, that the RX350 has not been redesigned in more than 8 years.
Let's wait before this so call comparison, for the new RX360.
So, pleeaasseee give me a b.......

Did you read the end of page 2? The Hyundai won. It's even on the cover of the July 07 Motor Trend. Personally I've owned a Landrover Discovery and a Landrover Rangerover. While the materials in the hyundai are lesser in quality overall it's a great deal for the money. I agree the comparison of the Sante Fe to the Landrover LR3 is ridiculous. They might be able to compare it to the LR2. The comparison of the Veracruz to the RX350 is very valid. Hyundai's reliability has gone up exponentially every year. Consumer reports has rated them among the likes of Honda and Toyota.
haha their commercial i saw today was kinda silly.
give it a few years n the old impressions of hyundai should go away so long as they keep on track and these new models proove to be good over a few years and some abuse.
Hyandi's not a bad car company but I would never own one.
The way I see it they should be targeting the rav4, crv, cx9 and those types of cars. Lexus is in a whole other catergory in my opinion. They even compared it to a land rover. Sorry, but again that car is in a different class.

I agree the Landrover comparison was not apples to apples. They didn't compare any offroad features which is where the Landrover would excel. However, Hyundais are way more reliable than a Landrover. Check out Consumer Reports. Both of my Rovers were in the shop all the time. I ended up learning how to do the repairs myself because it became ridiculous.
I found some really cool pics from the Veracruz, check it out if you want, ok it's in Dutch, but what the hell, it's for the pictures right . Hyundai Veracruz
