USA '04 LX470 vs '08 Sequoia

I currently have an '06 Cadillac SRX and will be trading this lemon in by year's end. We have looked at purchasing an LX470 b/c we have 3 kids and the space is larger; however the price is rather high so a used one may suit us better. Having never owned a Toyota product can you give me some good insight as to which would be better ... Lexus LX470 or wait for the new 2008 Toyota Sequoia. We found a 2004 LX470 at a Dallas, Texas dealership - Sewell Lexus priced at $42,600 .. is this a good price for an '04? Are there any major complaints with a used Lexus - besides the fact that it is used?

Lexus is probably better but just remember its a V8 so fuel consumption will be steep, also considering its an SUV weekly maintance will be high too (I read just yesterday in one magazine, in Australia, it was the most expensive car to maintain, a week running cost is about $400aud).

Goodluck!

I own a 2006 LX470.
Once the warranty is out it will be very expensive to repair.
You did not mention the mileage of the 2004. The LX warranty is 4 years/ 50000 miles
If I were you I would wait , the 2008 models of many different brands of SUV's will be hitting the showroom in a few months.
My 2006 has very low mileage it just turn 16200 miles , soon it will be For Sale , there are few new vehicles I am interested on.

....

The 08 Land Cruiser will have 176 more horsepower, new design and better fuel economy. Expect the price to remain the same. Or you can consider the new Sequoia which will have the same 381 hp 5.7 powertrain for about the same money you'll pay for the used LX470. Expect it to debut later this year. Nevertheless, Toyota dealerships don't have flat-screen TVs and driving ranges.

Buy a Sienna.
Actually that is exactly what my wife and I are planning to get this year.
We have road tested the 2008 Ltd. Sienna and it was great.
Now we need to wait a few months till the dealers are willing to negotiate.
I refuse to pay MSRP.
