IS250 awd..quck question..

Is the awd on the IS250 all time all wheel drive or does it just kick in when it notices wheel slippage?

It is a full time AWD system, with variable torque split to the rear wheels. Check the Lexus web site but I think it is rear biased.

The Lexus website doesn't really say much of anything about what kind of AWD system they're using for the IS250.

From the Canadian web site:
Advanced system constantly distributes torque evenly (50:50) between front and rear axles for optimum traction.

The system consisting of front, rear and centre differentials, employs TRAC control. TRAC ensures proper traction when a wheel slips, without requiring a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) in the centre differential. The result is a lightweight system that delivers high levels of stability and drivability.
