Going from a 2000 Solara to 2009 Corolla?

I could use some Toyota lovers' input on this. I have a perfectly beautiful 2000 Solara. Automatic. Leather interior. Mint condition. Just under 50,000 miles. Will anybody tell me why in the world, then, I would be even remotely interested in selling the Solara and purchasing the 5 speed 2009 Corolla when it comes out? Granted I've had several Corollas all my life up until I bumped up to the Solara. Maybe the Corolla is just ingrained familiarity on my part. My buddies think I'm nuts for even considering losing the Solara for the new Corolla. They think I'm going backwards. Ideally, if I were rich, which I am not, I would love to buy the 5 speed Corolla for play and drive the Solara for nice trips.

What are anybody's thoughts on this? Do I need therapy?

Not to jump all over you, but you put this in the Lexus forum. (doesn't exactly belong here, but that's alright, I see you're new) And with that in mind, welcome to Toyota Nation.

Now, back to the topic at hand. I'm not sure if you'd consider modifying your Solara, but if I had the money to buy a new Corolla I think I'd instead put the money into the car you already have. With only 50,000 miles on it, it has lots of life left in it. My vote, keep the Solara. Even if you don't want to modify it, take the money you won't be spending on Corolla payment and save it, then one day you can buy a car that does belong on the Lexus forum.

definitely keep the Solara. Why waste money on a new car? If anything, go get a used Lexus with low miles...
