Exclamation IS300 stereo removal

Hi,

A friend of mine owns an IS300 (2002, I think) and the stereo is cutting in and out. I initially thought it was just a loose connection with the harness, but apparently the lights are on and the headunit still works BUT there the sound coming through all speakers cuts in and out.

Can anyone point me to a site/thread that has a step-by-step details (and pictures) on how to remove the headunit? I'm thinking of pooking-and-proding around to find the cause.

Or better yet, does anyone have any hypotheses as to what the problem might be? Any insight would be great.

Thanks!
Redline

this is a DIY for installing an aux input to your deck...
http://my.is/forums/f63/is300-aux-mod-341142/

you can ingnore the part about installing the aux jack and just follow the steps to the head unit removal only.

you gotta remember to put blue painters tape or masking tape (regular masking tape might leave sticky residue if left on too long) on the console where the radio and the tray slide out, YOU WILL SCRATCH THE SIDES IF NOT! the console is very soft and scratches/scuffs very easily..cover it completely!

here's a pic from that thread

hope this helps
