rx300 with rx350 motor?

Is it possible to swap the rx350 motor (2gr-fe) into a rx300?

My dad has a rx330 (he regrets not waiting a couple of months for the 350), and my mom has an rx300. I feel i am going to get a hand me down someday.

Apparently rx300's have transmission issues so im just figuring out what my options are. (the tranny already makes whirring noises in 1st/2nd gear)

1. I would love to take the rx300 and throw in the 2gr-fe along with its "updated" transmission and most likely cv axles.

2. swap in the 3mz-fe along with its tranny in the rx330

3. or even just swap in a rx330 transmission and put that in instead of a replacement rx300 tranny

I can't find any forums/info about this swap...so i feel like it would be a pretty original project.

I love the rx300 much more than my dads rx330. can someone give me specs of both cars i.e. wheelbase, weight, etc.

But i could always sell the rx300 for something else. My Celica always needs money.

I need you guys to pick your brains and figure out if this is feasible without having to do too much hacking at the chassis.

Sorry but I have a feeling swapping the RX350 motor into the RX300 wont be as easily done as you'd like.

I'm speculating it would actually be easier to swap the RX330 motor into the RX300 since the 330 uses [almost] the same engine (3MZ and 1MZ series), the 330 is just bored out more than the 300.

The RX350 uses a totally new engine with dual VVT-i and a host of changes in its control logic that I dont think will be a direct bolt-on compatible with the RX300. The 350 engine is shared with the current Camry, Avalon, ES350, and RAV4. The IS350 and GS350 uses a variant of this engine with direct injection.

Just my thoughts - I could be wrong but I think like "wonger" said, trading in may be a better choice than taking on this potentially costly project.

yeah, i bet installing the 350 motor would take a bit of work.

Maybe a rx330 transmission will fit easy. having a 5th gear would be neat.

i should really get under the cars and check them out.

But yeah i guess its way smarter to trade in the car.

Too much work for another 50-60 hp.
