Snow and electronics...

Hi toyotanation!

Car: 2002 ES300 loaded

story:
-So I just came back from the snowy mountains (25-30 degrees; not too cold).

-Upon first hitting snow w/ chains, my "brake," "VSC," "Trac off," and "check engine" lights all came on.

-the next morning, my speedometer read "0" at all speeds and my odometer is non-funtional (stuck at 74,913).

-Temperature gauge is stuck at 38 degrees (its 65 outside today).

-GPS is VERY squirly (it moves while im parked and became highly inaccurate) and I have a feeling all these problems are interrelated and it could just need an ECU flash or reset. H

-Car now dies at idle

HELP lexus GURUS!
I want my car back!

Not sure what is causing your problems, but disconnect the battery overnight, negative terminal then positive terminal in that sequence.

I tried that. now the car dies at idle
i did an obd2 scan PO500 which is Vehicle speed sensor malfuntion. I'm thinking it could be a bad ground on the ECU. someone had similar problems (no speedometer and no odometer) on a mercury tracer and hardwiring the ground pin on the ECU solved his problem. mine could be similar. I'll keep troubleshooting.

Thanks to the 1 person who responded.

I fixed it today, cost me $300 with a fellow electrician. he said both speed tire sensors were replaced on the front. everything is back to normal.
