99 Lexus Rx300 DTC P1349 VVT system
We've got this Lexus in the shop and it throws a p1349. Checked the timing belt, marks line up as best I could see (the back pulley is a little hard to see back there)and belt is tight. Removed both the OCV's and measured both for resistance, both in spec. Actuated both with battery power and they move fine, reinstalled and test drove, code came back. Alldata says possible causes are:1. valve timing 2.OCV 3. VVT controller assembly 4.ECM
Ruled out valve timing and the OCV's. How do you check the VVT controller? Alldata has no good information on how this unit operates. Just remove it and drain oil into the assembly is all they say. I guess I'm looking for someone to point me in a direction to go or explain the way the VVT controller operates or another way to test it.
Guess I should throw in the vehicle runs fine when cold but after it heats up it will throw the code after about 15 minutes of driving. Any help would be great.
