rx 300 engine

i own a 2000 rx 300 with bad engine i need to know is this the same 3 liter used in toyotas as far as direct replacement not an expert mechanic so major mods are probably out

Has the 1MZ-FE V6 engine.

This was used in mass in Camry (with V6 option), Avalon, Sienna and other Toyota models. Might try a wikipedia search on the engine at the link below:

The engine ign system was updated over time, early engines have a distributor, then went to individual sensors. Much later engines such as 2002ish may have electric throttle control.

As such if looking at specific engine make sure it has the same ign and throttle setup.
