New ES 300 Owner:

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a 2001 Lexus ES 300 with 72,000kms. I traded in my 2001 Nissan Maxima SE for her. I have all service history for the vehicle (one owner) and also purchased a Lexus extended warrenty till 180,000kms. Is there anything I should keep my eye out for as far as and major problems with the vehicle is concerned? I have done extensive research on the car and they are neat bulletproof but any information I might have missed would be appreciated. The vehicle is still under full factory warrenty as well till December 2004 or 80,000kms. I did notice that the hood struts had a bit of difficulty staying up when checking out the engine, but the salesman said it was because it's been in -25 degree weather.....something I will keep my eye on for sure.

Finally, does anybody know of specific accessories I can put on the ES 300 to enhance it's appearance? And what type of spark plugs does the car come with? IE: platinum, Iridium? And what brand of spark plugs are they? IE: NGK, Denso ect. Thanks to all of you in advance for your assistance.

well since it has a 1MZ, it probably has an oil-sludging problem, ask someone else for more info.


i think there is only one body kit out for the ES, it's in this forum, do a search, should be only a ouple threads down.

it is true that the hood wont stay up..with that kind of temperture... cuz it did happen to me few day ago...

i believe your 01 ES came with the VVTi version of the 1MZ.. so i guess your are running on irdum..
