ive never driven one personally, but i love the car, very nice lines. ive been looking for a sc300 with a manual, but no luck so far.
do you have any pics of yur car? mods?
I love the SC400 and am personally looking for one at the moment. The 4.0L has a mean and healthy growl to it as well. I love how they can haul ass off the line and once you get into the higher RPMs they don't really run out of gears and keep pulling. The styling of them is a 10/10 on my charts too! and the inteior in the BEST! I have never driven a car that I fit that comfortably in like that! I'm 6'3" so it is hard to find somethign with enough room for me, my bro has a BMW and that thing is the only car that comes close to the comfort. Congrats on the buy! hope I'm next!
This car is everything a car should be: attractive, reliable, strong and a wonderful road car. I'm sold on this model. Too bad they stopped making it. I've been looking for a keeper 99 or 00 from over a year and they're rare. Most I've seen are not very well kept lease turn-ins.
Thanks. Yes, the 5 spoke rims really dress it up. The 7 spoke ones you see in a couple of the photos are the standard 16" ones for the 95-96 SC400. The 5 spoke ones are the optional 17" rims for the 98+ GS400/430. I have two sets of the 5 spoke ones, the ones you see for summer and another less fine set for winter. Don't ask me why I put winter wheels on a car I seldom drive in the winter. Go figure.
The SC300 came with a 3 liter in-line 6 like the Supras and it was also available with a manual trans. These are favored by the modders with turbos, etc. Mine is an SC400 with a 4 liter V8. It only came with an automatic. Mine is bone stock except for the wheels.

You must get panties thrown at you as you drive by...
Yes the wheels are like the ones used on the IS. The real difference is the width. The IS wheels are 7" wide whereas the GS ones are 8" wide. I'm current running 235x45x17s and will move to 245x45x17s next time.
I'm currently looking for a play car and have three cars to choose from: SC300, SC400 or MK3 Supra. I'd love to take a V8 and turbocharge it so I'd take the 400 anyday if it could come with a manual transmission. Right now I'm not sure, still probably want the SC300 more than the MK3.
Does anybody know of anyone online who has done a manual conversion on a SC400? I know you'll say it's a bitch (and I'll more readily believe it since the SC400 wasn't made to have manual transmissions), but if anybody has done it I'm interested to see their setup and how they did it. I know of a Camry owner with minimal mechanic experience who did a manual conversion and he says it was actually a lot more simple than others said it would be
