CD changer upgrade for '03 RX300

My wife and I are purchasing an used '03 RX300 that comes fairly loaded, with NAV, leather, moonroof and other goodies, but not with a CD. We obviously would like a CD player in the car so we're looking at OEm or aftermarket options.

Is adding a CD changer a simple matter of getting an OEM CD changer, mounting it and connecting it to the head unit? Or does the entire unit needs to be replaced with a factory system that has CD changer already connected to it?

Also, I saw an OEM Nakamichi audio kit with AM/FM, CD changer, amp, screen, front facade but no NAV for sale. Can that just replace my current CD-less, NAV stereo unit? The reason why I ask is that my old '00 RX300 didn't appear to have a screen that could display resolutions necessary for NAV. It wouldn't make sense for Lexus to install higher resolution screens if there's no NAV to take advantage of it.

Hmm... my question to you is this.

If it comes with NAV, then shouldn't the maps be stored in a DVD disc? Therefore it should have a DVD player right?

If the 03 RX still uses the glove compartment to store the CD changer, AND there's a "CD changer IN" for your main unit. Theretically you can just install it and get the right wire and plug it into the main unit.

I don't think you would want to replace your NAV with a no NAV CD player.

Yeah, it should have the DVD player. My problem is the car is about 800 miles away and although my brother took it out for a test drive, he didn't have time to really check through it as far as the accessories and such. But it does make me feel better. Kinda makes sense as CD changer is an option to standard AM/FM cassette stereo. Thanks for the comment!
