Ah I see, seafoam is an engine flush product that dissolves buildup and carbon. As for fixing your problem I honestly don't know. Might be worth a shot. The electronic solenoids might also be iffy in your transmission, there are so many things, could be simple, might be hard to fix.

The transmissions are common to V6 camrys and stuff of the era so a replacement is not all that expensive which is why I replaced mine. I've put 20,000 trouble free miles on it since.

Hi, 328FTW.....thanks again for responding rapidly. I will try and find a Seafoam equivalent here in Panama. However, concerning the Camry tranny's price not all that expensive.......the problem here in Panama is that the junk yards (wrecking yards) called Rastro here don't have hardly any Camry's or Lexus cars to find parts from, so almost have to buy a rebuild kit and change out parts in the tranny. A workshop quoted me $500 for the kit and $600 for the work, but that is pretty expensive for no sure guarantee that it will work. I will try and find a trans. in a junk yard, but the last time I looked it was about $600 for a torn up Lexus body about 2 years ago. So, I would prefer to try a lot of other things first. Thanks for all your help. Did you ever get the Lexus motor in the MR2? If you did, it must be a small rocket.

If you think of anything else to help, like also need some front end suspension parts, and a transmission seal to stop oil from leaking on right front side, please write me at mikedavis@cableonda.net. Curious what country or state you live in?

Have a good day, and thanks for all. Panama Mike

Wow, that must have been a whole hell of a lot of work. Sure is crowded, but I bet you are right, I wouldn't want to drag race you unless I had my friend's 32 roadster with a Cad engine (but that was 1957) .

I found the home page of Seafoam and they distribute to most car parts houses all across the USA. http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-use-trans-tune.html

I will try to find some here in Panama and thanks a lot for all your help. You must be a mechanic or love to work on cars? Panama Mike
