My dad's 2000 ES300 has a few problems with the headlights and foglights that have developed in the last few days.
His right front foglight has some condensation inside the foglight lens. The light is working fine, but somehow there is some condensation inside the lens. Lexus wants to charge him $282 or something like that to fix it. I haven't taken much of a look at it yet as he showed me while I was eating tonight, but I'm guessing some sort of a seal is broken around it. Is anyone familiar with these foglights?
This morning he noticed that his lights weren't the same. He showed me when he got home from work. His right headlight (passenger side) has almost like a pinkish tint to it and is much dimmer than the driver's side. Is this a sign of the bulb needing to be replaced soon?
Also, what type of bulb is this and where can I get it? He told me he called Autozone and they don't carry it, and somewhere else he called said like $75. Everywhere I look online, it says the high-beam is a 9005 bulb and the low-beam is just labeled as "HID". They don't tell me what bulb it needs exactly. Also, are these bulbs really *THAT* expensive?
Other IS300 owners have had this condensation problem as well. Dunno if your warranty is up yet but they will cover it...
They'll basically remove the lens and replace the parts then use tape to make sure it's air tight.
Well since they're HID's, they probably will look different, espcially in reflectors cuz of hotspots. i doubt the bulb needs replacing, but yeah, they really are that expensive
and what snowhite said mfor the foglight, have them fix it under warranty. unless of course a rock broke it, in which case, it's not really a warranty claim.

When the light looks pinkinsh, the bulb is too old. Go to ebay and get a pair of Philips D2R HID for about $65. Replace them both and it will be ok again. As for the condensation, remove the headlight and put RTV silicone all around the gap between the clear lens and the housing. I know a lot about HID headlights.

replace your hid bulb. I don't know if your dad car has projectors. I guest not since it's a new model with hid. I assume it will be D2R bulb. Go to ebay and search for D2R bulbs, 4100k, should say oem. Should cost you around 50-60 bucks. You should install a pair at a time or the color will be different. After install new bulb, you should notice the color will be yellow not white anymore. The burn in time will take about 200 hours before the color turn white.
A lot of times the reason HID bulbs turn pinkish - or an orange color is because the crystal salts in them burst. Sparying pink/orange stuff on the glass.
Replace the bulbs.
