Do you like it quiet?

Some members on any car forum would want some engine/exhaust sounds from their cars. There are millions of threads about intake and exhaust. Often you would read that (today's) cars are a bit too quiet now. Drivers felt distanced from their cars.

Just want to see what Lexus owners think? Isn't that one of the reasons why you got a Lexus? That it's quiet.

Quiet is very important to me in the Lexus lineup. The engine gets a little noisy when you put your foot into it but a cruising speeds it is a jewel.

I like quiet. I welded on an exhaust tip on mine and modified the airbox. So when i pin it you can hear some 'intake' but never growling or anything.

If i had an LS400, it'd have an exhaust cutout or straight pipes. It's a v8 - it should sound like one imo!

'93 ES300 - new front to back Bosal....sounds like a truck! Sucks...I put a Walker muffler on my '96 Camry and it's QUIET...When time/money allow, I'll get a Walker for the Lexus too.

Toyota and Lexus engines usually make pleasant sounds. They're also quite smooth.

I think it's the refinement i like most. If you're really sensitive to noise, it's nice if things are more quiet.

Lexus cars are known for their quietness and refined road manners. The ES and LS emphasize this.

However, if engine note and performance are priorities, there are always the IS, GS, and LFA lines.

Even though cars like the IS F and new GS350 F sport are focused towards sport, they too are still Lexus cars.

Test drove the IS350 F-sports today..

And that car had a beautiful engine & exhaust note.. It's literally quiet with no wind noise etc until you floor it and you get that sweet sound growl & getting pushed back into your seat!

I want quiet and smooth in any vehicle that doesn't have a V8. 4 and 6 cylinder cars just don't sound good with loud exhaust.

I'm forever cracked up when I hear a Corolla or Civic automatic pulling away from a light with their loud exhaust. It sounds as if they are barely able to pull their own weight.

I disagree with half of this statement. 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder cars can sound good with modified exhausts. My Avalon and ES300 sound quite good with modified exhausts. Comparable to a Supra with an exhaust in sound. Just gotta know what your doing and what not to remove.

I stand partially corrected.

I do remember some Supra and 240Z inline sixes that sounded pretty sexy. I should have said MOST 4 and 6 cylinder cars.....

If the F-Sports IS350 was much quieter then your average car, then i wonder how quiet the LS would be?..
