Driver-side HID not working!

Ever since installing a pair of aftermarket 8000K D2R HID bulbs on my 1999 GS3 i've had problems with my HID system. First, after having them installed by my mechanic the HID self-levelling warning light on the dash went off. I ignored this for a while until the driver side HID stopped working. I thought it was the HID bulb but im not sure anymore. I got it replaced under warranty and had my mechanic install them this evening but it still wasn't working? We thought it might be a fuse but that wasn't the case. Anyone have a similar problem with their HID system not working? Lexus said i need to replace the "computer" for the driver-side? How much you ask? CAD$593!!!!!Feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cool

Their talking about the ballast. Findind a buddy with a gs300 and ask if you can borrow their ballast. If you swap them and it lights it's either:
A) connections to the ballast
B) the ballast

HID

im really hoping its the ballasts that are gone b/c like i said, the "hid self-level" warning light is ON in the dash. I'll be sure to swap a working ballast and see if thats the root of the problem. Thx for your feedback!

driver-side HID

toysRme...you were right all along...the part # refers to the ballast on the driver-side and all along i was thinking this part # the dealer gave me was some sort of computer module. I sourced a pair off a 2000 GS400 cuz apparently they are interchangeable between cars. Im gonna get this installed and checked out tomorrow and see if i can get my baby "seeing" again and get that damn warning light for the self-level off my dash.

Unhappy

I didn't know changing the ballast on my car was going to be a 5hr affair. Me and a buddy (SKperformance) had a difficult time since we had to partially take off the front bumper and then take out the headlight housing just to get to the ballast. We got my driver side HID working again but the warning light on the dash for the HID leveling system is still on and my driver side HID is waaay off level and manually adjusting it from the backside of the housing isn't doing much help either. I think i gotta bring this back to the dealer and get it checked out again. I hope its not the computer for the leveling system (black box beside the ballast).

Does your passenger side auto-leveling make a clicking sound when it is undergoing self diagnostic? My 2001 ES 300 does that.

Thanks. I can hear both headlights have the normal motorized sound, but the passenger side clicks when undergoing self diagnostic.
