Compass Mirror?

Can I put an auto-dimming compass mirror into an 01 ES? Would the dimming sideview mirrors still work?

Yes. I installed one on my 98 Camry. You run the wires into the roof, then across and down the driver's side A pillar. Then into the wiring under the steering wheel. It should work independantly of the side mirrors.

I know if you buy the Toyota/Lexus mirror that has the compass in the upper right corner (now comes standard on Camry XLEs and ES330s)- it will work.

Just be careful which one you buy- I've heard (but I don't know if it is true) that there are slightly different mirror models for the 97-99 Camry/ES300s, and then 00-present models.

Good luck- It's a cool little feature that is a cool do-dad and useful at the same time.

Yeah, I had to call an emergency response team to an accident yesterday and I didn't know if i was in the eastbound or westbound lanes

My mom's RX300 had one in it, and I figure since the two are basically the same (in terms of engine, features, etc), then it shoudl fit and work properly. Please correct me if I'm wrong

Probably should work. The connection in the wiring might be different. I bought mine from a dealership online and it came with really detailed instructions, and told me exactly how to tie it into the ignition wiring.
