IS300 changing oil

Well, I changed the oil on the IS300 for the first time. I had to remove all the nuts from the bottom cover to get to the filter. Seems kinda tedious. I wasnt able to get to filter from the top, didnt fit thru. Is their an easier way to get to the filter?

Can't go through the wheel well...sealed up like a Dolphins butt!

If you pull the filter up beside the brake reservoir (along the AT dipstick), it has to be in a specific position and it will fit through...you sort of have to pull up..then it will curve forward and out. IT WILL COME OUT THIS WAY.

The only thing is if you have a grounding kit, one of the connection points will prevent this. If you use an oil filter other than the Toyota one, this may also prehibit the filter from coming out this way, as it may be larger than the original Toyota one.

The easiest way is to grab from underneath. This will only happen from behind the sway bar. You may need the help of a freind to pass it through to you.Watch the hot exhaust!

I have changed oil on my car over 20 times now, however I haved worked in the quick lube business for 15 years and have experience and the facilities to do this from underneath the vehicle. It is a little more tricky to do this in your driveway. I would say that this car is one of the more difficult ones to replace the oil filter, so don't sweat it if your having trouble.

A good tip is to take the new filter and place it through (by the AT dipstick) and down into position...this will show you the correct path...it will help you map out the removal.

I have heard from a guy who worked at auto zone or something along those lines that changing the oil is a bitch and its really hard.

Like digger said.......shove it through in between the intake runners and the shock tower fender/mount.......

You literally have to PUSH the filter in. I put a small dent in the filters on their way out, but the new ones go in nicely. It is hard.....but you have to push the intake as much as u can towards the exhaust side of the car.

Have fun!

I change the oil on my IS all the time, the easiest way to remove the filter is just take out the dipstick and slide the filter thru that extended gap. Cheers
