'97 ES300 starter

hi all....need some help

my dad's ES300 is having problems starting in the cold weather. he just bought a new battery in hopes to solve the problem, but I think that it's the starter/alternator. so, even with the new battery installed, it wouldn't start (last nite and today).

Is my assumption correct? is it the starter? if so, how much would it cost to get a replacement, or is there a better option?

Depends. If it has power and won't crank it's normally the starter solenoid(which is made into the starter to keep it from being a quick $5 fix).
Replacing the starter isn't very difficult. Probably take you an hour or less.

Some might argue, but I've had crappy luck with Toyota starters. This '93 ES is on it's second, and my previous '93 'rolla had three... Oh well, exhaust parts rust out in Honda's, Toyota makes crappy starters; it's always something! LoL!

Call a Toyota dealer to ask for the starter on a '97 v6 camry, then call your local auto parts chain stores and ask them the same question.

Take the lowest price, or if the OEM Toyota part is within $25-$30 just buy it.
