SC400's have the 4.0L v8.. Newer supra's had 6-speeds not 5 speeds.. SC400's were only auto... SC300 5-speeds are rare

that's not true. sc400's use a v8. supra's used an inline 6. the sc300 used the same engine as the supra

correct. ive seen people with the sc300 do a 2jz-gte swap. you can go that route or do a 1jz-gte swap. i think i got the engine codes right.

Since the sc300 has a 2jz already, i'd probably just go with a na/t kit. only thing is the tranny on the 300's is definately not as strong as the 58 in supra tt's. the internals are slightly stronger in the tt's as well (i think). if ya can afford the down time and the motor itself, get a tt, but if not, the na/t conversion is still plenty of kick. a 5er would be a bonus.

here's the one i got my eye on: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...TAFSRCHUSDTEXT

NA supras could be had with 5 speed stick or 4 speed auto SC300 had these same options...

TT supras had the same 4 speed in the NA/SC300, but the only stick offered in the Supra was the 6 speed..

and yes, SC400s were auto only..

you could have a manual tranny in a sc400, with a custom bell housing and a spline adapter, you could put damn near any manual tranny you wanted too, T-56, Getrag, whatever, but it would cost you a bit and you'd have to play aroud with the computer so the engine and transmission can talk
