Question SC 300 TT ?'s

I have a '92 SC 300, which I want to turbo. I dont want to turbo the existing 2JZ-GE, as I have both a 1JZ-GTE and a 2JZ-GTE in my shop, and want to know what is the easiest route to go. Obviosuly swapping motors is the first idea, but I was told with the 2JZ-GTE (which is what I would prefer to use) the motor mounts, some accessories, and and dash electronics do not integrate properly with the GTE ecu, as well as the transmission/driveline. One possible way around this is by removing the head of the the GE and swapping the head for the GTE, switching out ecu/wiring harness (this route would solve tranny, motor mount and accessory issues, but not electronics). Also once removed, new rods and pistons would need to be put in the GE block. Is this worth the effort? also what are some ways around the wiring issues? stand alone, re-wire and a dash swap are what I've goten so far. Anyways looking for all the ways to go about this, so any ideas/suggestions or advice, preferably from experience, are greatly appreciated. thanks!

The rods and crank in the GE block are the same as the GTE, the pistons are different however and have a higher compression ratio. It really depends how much power you are looking to make. If your horsepower goals are mild, you can get away with a headgasket to lower compression as far as engine modification go. The weak link after that will be your transmission.

I would suggest going and checking out Supraforums.com. They have a ton of information about turbocharging the GE block. There is a guy running 9 second quarter miles with a stock bottom end 2JZ-GE.

What did they do for Japanese market models? Did they ever run a 2JZ-GTE in the SC300 over there? It seems they did in the GS300/Aristo. I'm a sedan-man so I'm looking at the possibilities for the first gen GS. I found a Altezza 2JZ-GTE front clip for sale, auto tranny, wiring and ecu included for $2500. I live outside of the emissions inspection region so I'm thinking I may just run it JDM spec in my U.S spec. car.

the GE head is better than the GTE head so why would you want to do that?

1JZ all the way. Me and 2 other guys pulled it off in a weekend with rain for like 6 hours on one of the days...
