I am having a similar Issue I don’t know what to do.
I don’t want to use the sprays since my belts are relatively new (2 years).
My car is Camry 1996 4 cyl –
Toyota dealer did my timing belt - and they put new driving belts like 2 years ago, new water pump etc (that car was 88k miles)
Now I have 120K miles and like 1 week ago it started –
its doing that weird squealing noise/ it’s coming from the front of the car
First time when it did - was just a short squiiiiizzz (4 seconds) when I was taking a wide curve to the left - I was surprised, hmmm
So it did like this for lets say 1-2 days - a few curves to the left (just to the left) and that short weird sound (harsshhhhhh….for 3-4 seconds in wide curve)
To mention nothing yest in any short slow curves – just wide with at least 25miles/hour
Initially I was scared its something wrong with the Power Steering Pump?!
So I have checked the level for the power steering fluid, but was fine – nobody touched the power steering fluid ever but was just a little-little bit bellow the mark.
So next day I was to the dealer to change the oil and I put a note to add some Power Steering fluid - they did that, they put a little bit over the limit-mark.
Anyhow I left the dealer – and I realized that was not resolving the issue.
First curve – and it seems it started longer now …
I have left my work – and it started to do more often – to any left curve, except the slow curve (90 degrees).
Next days I have checked the level-nothing changed - is not loosing any power steering fluid.
But now the situation is worst. I mean lets say I take a left - it will start doing that weird noise/squealing and is not stopping for the next 2-3 minutes - driving straight the sound is not stopping.
This morning I left - and it started after I left the parking – and to mention again is not squealing at stop - in parking –
Also as soon as I hit the breaks-or the car is slowing down - the squealing -weird sound is fading away.
I can't detect exactly where it came from / I mean which belt?! I am thinking is the power steering belt - but how I said all of them are new. I have checked with my hands - but it seems are tighten enough?!
Any clue?
Is anyone have any picture - with the power steering belt - it is easy to do it ? or its better to go to any mechanic?
