Well, I just traded a Japan-built 07 XLE for a US-built 08 SE. Only about 700 miles on the car so far, but the interior is quieter than the old XLE. The XLE wasn't bad, but it had a few little ticks and such going on. And I shoved quite a few chunks of padding between the windshield and the dash over the course of a couple of years, as it had the dash rattle up there, too.
So far, the dash has been supremely quiet with the new SE -- presumably it's got the extra padding described in the TSB, and hopefully it'll stay that way.
All in all, I've ratted against US-built cars, but so far, the new SE just oozes quality compared to the Japanese XLE -- the doors seem to close with a more solid "thunk," and so on.
Trust me, though -- I'll weigh in if and when anything comes up worth mentioning!
