Indeed, I too totalled a car before getting this Camry -- it was a 99 Accord Coupe but a drunk driver hit us head on and destroyed it. I too, like you, liked the fifth generation SE because of those thick, low skirts, but I think the sixth generation doesn't look as aggressive.
Are you happy with its overall size?
