I think the new external syling is alright. But, yes it the back end is very Mazda 3ish. The new engine choices are nice.

However, I really dislike that the new model doesn't get better gas mileage than the old. This was really an area I was hoping for improvement in. I know this was one of the major selling points of the 1st gen for many buyers. Also, when I sat in it at the local auto show the dash board was very high and IMO impared vision a bit. Although, I will admit I'm not a tall guy.
