I agree, it is not necessary to change the vehicle from miles to kms to be able to register the vehicle in Canada. However, does anyone know if there is a sequence of buttons that can be pressed to change the vehicles digital displays from imperial to metric/Fahrenheit to Celcius? Speedometer has miles and kms on it so that isn't a big deal. However, odometer is in miles and dealerships always screw up take the miles as kms when the vehicle goes in for service, which puts a flag on the carfax report. Also, the heads-up display on the centre console displays the outside temperature in Fahrenheit instead of Celcius, it'd be nice if it could be changed relatively easily.
